Transparency program Cajal Institute 

The purpose of the Cajal Institute Transparency Program is to publicize why and how experimental animals are used in neuroscientific research, and how the principles of the 3 R’s (reduction, refinement and replacement) are applied at the Cajal Institute, according to with the Document of the Confederation of Scientific Societies of Spain (COSCE) on the use of animals in scientific research and the Transparency Agreement on the use of animals in scientific experimentation in Spain.

Disclosure, transparency and accountability

In order to advance in the development and fulfillment of the commitments signed in the Transparency Agreement on the use of animals in scientific experimentation, the Cajal Institute launched its Transparency Program in 2018, regularly organizing outreach activities, talks and actions since then communication aimed at all kinds of people and groups, in which images and videos of the scientific activity carried out with animal models are exhibited and basic explanations are provided to publicize the principles mentioned above, in addition to addressing the queries and concerns of the participants .
