Molecular, cellular and developmental neurobiology 

The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology analyzes the genesis of synaptic complexes (the contact spaces between nerve cells, fundamental in the transmission of the nerve impulse) and the differentiation processes of sensory organs (such as the eye, the retina or the olfactory system) and the cerebral cortex.

The department also studies the microorganization processes of the human cerebral cortex, structural alterations in learning and memory processes, analgesic mechanisms, tolerance and dependence on opiates, nervous processes related to senility, both normal and pathological, etc. ., combining basic research with health projects of an applied nature.
